| Two things are necessary to achieve the quality drum sound that
you need in order to sell your music to fans and to shop your music
to music industry professionals. Before anything else, you need a
solid drummer with a strong sense of dynamics and the ability to lay
down the groove you want without wavering. Without that, all the expensive
recording gear in the world won't give you the drum sound your music
deserves. Secondly, you need to be able to capture that performance
using the best gear and the knowledge on how to use that gear to get
the sound that the songwriter is looking for.
I've met so many songwriters that complain that they can't meet
a drummer that will keep solid time. A poor drum performance on
an album you're trying to sell can be a huge factor in why more
people aren't buying your music. The beat is a huge element in a
song, and a beat that isn't metronomically perfect can be unprofessional
and unpleasant sounding. The drummers you will work with have the
ability to play perfectly to a click track. I also believe us to
be tastefully creative and that you will like some of the things
we may throw at you that you might not have expected. We're also
okay with hearing, "I really don't like the drum part in the
bridge. I don't know what I want there, but not that." It's
your song and ultimately we want to provide you with the drum arrangement
you think is perfect for your song.
How does the process work?
First, visit the contact page and use
the form to submit your information so that we are all on the same
page. You'll get an email from us shortly asking you to send us
the song and give us some background information about the song
and what you're looking for.
Once we receive the song we'll send you some of our thoughts on
the track and also provide a quote for our both of our services
(Basic Stereo Tracking, Professional Studio Tracking).
Basic Studio Tracking:
* Work with one of our Studio Drummers to nail down the percussion
arrangement to your songs.
* Receive .wav stereo file of metronomically correct drum part for
your song
Professional Studio Tracking:
* Includes everything in Basic Studio Tracking.
* Studio drummer performs your drum part in a professional studio
with an engineer.
* You receive CD with 10 individual drum tracks for you to mix as
you wish.
You can always opt to add the Professional Studio Tracking after
we complete the Basic Tracking. Once you agree to the quote and
submit a deposit, we'll get to work and record a basic track with
the stripped down grooves and basic drum arrangement and you'll
give us feedback on what you'd like to hear more or less of and
you can give us your overall opinion of the feel of the part. We'll
then record another take with more bells and whistles and also changing
anything you commented on in the first run. After you review that
take, we'll hope to nail the part the next run through in our demoing
studio.
If you like what you hear, we suggest that you pay an additional
amount for one of our studio drummers to go into a professional
studio with an engineer to capture the drum tracks for you through
several professional microphones and preamps. The demoing studio
here works great for crafting the drum part, but for us to provide
you with a 10 track drum performance for your song (bass, snare,
tom-tom, floor tom, hihat, ride, 2 overhead, 2 ambient) we'll need
to employ an engineer. The cost for this is around $100 for the
first song with each song after that costing $50 (varies depending
on length sometimes).
How much does this cost?:
Prices vary, but we'll quote you before we start any work and it's
usually between $60 - $100 per track for Basic Studio Tracking.
You'll pay half the fee after you agree to the quote and you want
us to begin work and the remainder will be due after you listen
to and approve the posted drum tracks on the web. Once payment is
received we will provide you with the .wav tracks that correspond
with the tracking package you chose. Professional Studio Tracking
is an addition to Basic Studio Tracking and is usually around $100
for the first song and $50 each additional song.

Law Blank - www.lawblank.com - Working with Dan at Rythmstop was
a seriously productive, creative, affordable and easy experience.
He nailed the drum parts I needed after one round of review and
changes. I was thoroughly impressed and will be using his services
often in the future and would recommend him to any of my colleagues.
Scott Spencer - I really appreciate the effort you have put forth
into this project. I'm so glad you are playing drums....the songs
sound great!
